St. Albert the Great Parish School is happy to offer our families another class option if their child doesn’t fit the traditional educational path from Pre-K to Kindergarten. Junior Kindergarten or “JK” is designed for children who miss the new Kentucky Kindergarten admittance date of August 1, or those who may need an extra year of academic and/or social development to grow and mature before entering Kindergarten.
Students will be guided through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that will lay the foundation for a successful transition into Kindergarten. Students will participate in programs such as Handwriting Without Tears and the Wilson Reading Method. Our JK program is staffed by a certified lead teacher, full time assistant, has an average class size of 12-15, and mirrors a modified Kindergarten classroom in layout, schedule and curriculum.
Our JK class incorporates purposeful play, exploration, & creativity to foster a young child’s love of learning. We are excited about this opportunity to help our students mature academically and socially, while continuing to grow and invest in our school’s future.
Your child must be age 5 on or before October 1st of the incoming school year to be considered for enrollment. Applicants will be required to take a readiness assessment in February prior to final acceptance.
