Registration of Students

Our primary goal is student success.

Admission to St. Albert the Great Parish School is based on class capacity and availability of resources as well as the developmental, scholastic, and behavioral qualifications of the applicant. The Administration has final authority over all admission decisions and may decline admission at their discretion.

To apply for enrollment, a completed application, specified supporting documents, and a $200/$210 non-refundable application fee, must be submitted for each child, to be considered “complete” and ready for review. Applications do not guarantee admission.

NEW THIS YEAR: The time of day in which you turn in your application does not affect your placement in line or increase your chances of being accepted. The criteria below determines the order of applicants.

PARISH FAMILY DEFINITION

* St. Albert the Great Parishioner Status

  • Parishioner status, for the sake of admission & tuition, is defined as those families currently REGISTERED, INVOLVED, AND CONTRIBUTING to St. Albert the Great Parish. PLUS, we must have your recent annual stewardship card on file in the Parish Office to be considered a current and active parishioner. You will be considered inactive if we do not have your most recent annual stewardship card on file. Please make sure this is completed before applying for admission. Parishioner status will be verified.

  •

  • The length of the parent’s adult membership and parent’s involvement will be considered. Please include this information on the last page of your application.

** Enrollment for families registered at another Catholic Parish

  • If you are a registered and active member at another Roman Catholic Parish, you must include a Letter of Good Standing from that parish with your application. It must also include your length of membership. Please include your Parish’s name, length of membership as an adult, and Parish involvement on the last page of your application.

  •

  • If you are a REGISTERED, INVOLVED, AND CONTRIBUTING member of a Partner Parish, you will qualify for our parishioner tuition rate. “Partner Parish” is defined as a local Roman Catholic Parish that is not affiliated with a school (Epiphany, Cathedral of the Assumption, St. Louis Bertrand, to name a few). To be eligible for parishioner tuition, we will need an annual Letter of Good Standing from your Parish Office by June 1st of each year that includes your length of membership, involvement, and tithing. This requirement is similar to St. Albert parishioners submitting their Stewardship Card to our Parish Office each year.

***Families of other faiths seeking a Catholic education

  • We welcome and respect students of all faith backgrounds. Because religious instruction is an integral part of our mission, all students must fully participate in religion class, prayer, liturgies, and activities, except those activities not permitted by the Catholic Church, such as receiving sacraments.

ROLLING REGISTRATION

Our  application period runs September 15th-October 31st. We will continue to accept applications between November 1, 2024 - April 30, 2025, pending class availability. After November 1st, applications will be considered based on the date in which we receive the completed application (not the priority criteria listed above in the chart). To be considered “complete”, we will need to have all documents listed on the application submitted at the same time. Your application will be reviewed by our Admissions Team once all other previous applications have been reviewed. We will then contact you on the status of your application/next steps after January 2025. Please keep in mind, that we do not accept new student applications between May and the start of the new application period in the fall.

WAITLISTS

Once a class is full, we will start a waitlist. We always recommend families find an alternate school as a backup in case we cannot accommodate your student before the start of the new school year. Waitlists are not carried forward year to year. You must apply each year if placed on the waitlist. St. Albert has the right to deny applications if a class is at capacity.

ADMISSIONS ASSESSMENT

All incoming JK-6th grade students are given an entrance exam. JK and kindergarten students take part in an assessment that evaluates their gross motor, fine motor, language capability, ability to take direction, and conceptual skills. 1st – 6th Grade students are screened for reading and math and complete a writing sample. They will also meet with a member of our Administrative Team for a brief interview.

JK & Kindergarten Assessments (January): 30 minutes

1st – 6th Grade Assessments (after January): 45-60 minutes

After the assessment is completed, you will be notified within two weeks regarding your admission status.

Any new student admitted to St. Albert the Great will be admitted for a probationary period of six to twelve weeks. During this period, the student will be observed for successful experiences, in both academic performance and school behavior. The Principal or teacher will contact parents/guardians of students experiencing difficulty. The principal may adjust the length of probation to better serve the needs of the child and St. Albert at any point.

ADMISSION OF STUDENTS WITH DIAGNOSED LEARNING DIFFERENCES

Students with learning differences shall be given the same consideration as all applicants. Before admitting a student with diagnosed learning differences, St. Albert the Great shall determine whether it can provide an appropriate education for that child in light of the school’s resources and staff/support capacity. Each child will be considered on an individual basis. Learning differences are diverse and are treated on a case-by-case basis in Catholic schools. To qualify for accommodations, a student must have a recognized disability and the appropriate testing documentation. Parents must provide the child’s educational/accommodation plan, evaluations, and learning/behavioral diagnosis documentation at the time the application is submitted. Any changes made between submission and the start of the school year must be communicated to the school in writing.

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville use a model of inclusion for students with special learning needs. Students with mild to moderate learning disabilities are enrolled in regular classrooms with strategic teaching methods and appropriate accommodations. A School Learning Coordinator works closely with teachers and parents to identify strategies, modifications and/or accommodations that can help a student with learning differences achieve success.

The Archdiocese of Louisville recommends that no more than 10-15% of students with learning differences be enrolled in any one classroom. If you have a child with learning differences, please contact us at admissions@stalbert.org for questions and availability for particular grades BEFORE you tour/shadow/apply, as some grades have already met their capacity.

Tuition

Enrolling your children at St. Albert the Great is an investment in their future and a gift that will last them a lifetime. Now more than ever our children need a values-based education. They are the future of the Catholic Church and our community. Our goal is, and has always been, to work vigorously to provide your children the exceptional education you expect and deserve for your investment in St. Albert the Great Parish School.

The tuition we charge does not cover the cost of the education we provide. St. Albert is funded by tuition, the generous support from our Parish community, fundraising efforts from our PTO, and your gift of time and talent.

Your tuition may be paid in full or drafted monthly. A 1% discount is offered to those families with students in grades JK – 8th.  In order to be eligible for this discount the family must complete the FACTS enrollment process by selecting the “one time payment plan” for paying the full years tuition amount for the upcoming school year.  This must be completed by June 15th with the payment drafting on July 1st.  Otherwise, tuition is paid monthly (August-May) and due on or before the first of each month. All school families are required to keep the tuition and all other school related fees and charges current. One parent will be responsible for tuition, Play Café after-school care, and all fees. Parents living in 2 separate households will not be billed separately. School payments cannot be, and will not be carried over from year to year. St. Albert the Great reserves the right to change the due date of tuition payments and method by which payments are to be paid.

Tuition Assistance (K-8)

We strive to ensure that our youth are able to receive a Catholic education despite the possible inability to pay. If you have a financial need, please give us an opportunity to work with you to explore all options. For this current school year, CEF, their partners, and St. Albert the Great awarded our school families over $150,000 in tuition assistance.

The application process consists of completing the FACTS application and submitting supporting documentation. The application can be found on the Catholic Education Foundation’s website, www.ceflou.org. Financial assistance is available for students entering kindergarten through eighth grade, both parishioner and non-parishioner families. Confidentiality is maintained in this process.

Visit www.ceflou.org for more information and application deadlines.

Completed applications received by the deadline will participate in the initial grant awards allocation. A much smaller amount of tuition assistance may be available for forms submitted after that date.

FACTS Management is an independent, third-party service that provides reasonable assessments of the ability of families to pay tuition at private and parochial schools.

Copies of the FACTS analysis and forms are shared only with the contracting parish, school or agency; no one else will receive this information. Final decisions about tuition assistance will be communicated to you from your school or from the Catholic Education Foundation.

Preschool & Junior Kindergarten students are not eligible.
