Father Dave has lived in Kentucky all of his life. He grew up in southeastern Kentucky, attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington and has remained in Louisville since 1983. He is both a Wildcat and Cardinal fan. He is married and has two grown children and three grandchildren. Father Dave was ordained to the priesthood in 2008. He loves being a priest and particularly enjoys celebrating the Mass. Prior to coming to St. Albert he served at St. Aloysius parish in Pewee Valley and Pax Christi Collaborative in Louisville. He also continues to serve on the Priests Council for the Archdiocese and participates in Mass of the Air. Ellen attended Sacred Heart Model School and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1983. She attended Georgetown College for two years then returned home to attend Spalding University. After graduating from Spalding University in 1988, Ellen began teaching for the Archdiocese of Louisville, She taught sixth and second grades at St. Polycarp School and second grade at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School before joining the faculty of St. Albert the Great in 1997. In 2000 she became the Director of St. Albert’s after-school program, the Play Café. In 2008, Ellen was named the Kentucky D.A.R.E. Educator of the Year. She is passionate about educating our children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. When the D.A.R. E. program was removed from area schools, Ellen devised the St. Albert Drug Awareness Program or S.A.D.A.P. Ellen grew up showing American Saddlebreds in the 3 and 5 gaited divisions out of Rock Creek Riding Club here in Louisville. She is an avid Louisville Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a huge animal lover. She lives in the Highlands with her husband, Dane, and their two cats, Kali and Molli.

Mr. Anderson is married (Jennifer, 23 years) with children (Lane, 21, Cael and Caton, 14 year old twins). He and his wife also sponsor an orphaned child in Uganda that they consider their child (Alex, 13). Mr. Anderson has taught in the Archdiocese of Louisville for 24 years, teaching at St. Polycarp and St. Andrew Academy before coming to St. Albert the Great. Mr. Anderson has coached middle and high school basketball (both boys and girls) in Indiana since 1989. He has been fortunate enough to win a state championship with the Jeffersonville girls in 2011 as well as coach an Indiana Miss Basketball in 2000. He is currently an assistant girls’ varsity basketball coach at Waggener High School. Outside school, Mr. Anderson is active in a jail ministry called Residents Encounter Christ.

Mrs. Koestel has spent the majority of her teaching career at St. Albert the Great. She worked as a first grade teaching assistant for four years, then as the 5th grade Language Arts teacher for seven years, the Computer/Technology teacher for five years, and is beginning her fourth year as Librarian. She began her teaching career at St. Columba for one year, then took time off to have her family. Mrs. Koestel has been married to Glenn for 32 years and has a son, Eric and a daughter, Zoe, both of whom graduated from St. Albert the Great. Mrs. Koestel is also one of the two league coordinators for CSAL – Catholic Schools Academic League. Mrs. Koestel loves to rescue big dogs, and currently has two rescued Newfoundlands – Victoria and Zeus. Louisville is her hometown, although she has lived in Philadelphia, PA, Linlithgow, Scotland, and spent a summer in Istanbul, Turkey while her husband was working there. In her spare time she likes to read, play trivia and travel.
